In the shadows, a spider weaves her web of secrets and whispers...
About
Woven Whispers is an information, knowledge, and gossip business that thrives on the subtle art of gathering and distributing knowledge — a delicate web of truths spun for those with a need to know. Managed solely by an Au Ra woman who hails from Kugane, known simply as Chishiki, or Chi.Woven Whispers was made for those who seek enlightenment amidst the shadows of secrecy, those looking for little bits of information that may lead them forward. Clients are invited to explore a rich tapestry of insights, ranging from mere gossip to veiled truths, all presented with a blend of discretion and allure. The curator of Woven Whispers has a knack for weaving together the threads of information into a coherent and enlightening narrative, ensuring each client receives the clarity and understanding they desire. To ease the weight of revelation, guests are offered a modest selection of snacks and silken sips — refreshments carefully chosen to soothe the tongue while truths unravel. From delicate confections to calming teas, each offering complements the quiet atmosphere of the broker’s parlor.Though all information has a price… are you willing to pay it?Some who visit Woven Whispers sense that not all threads are meant to be seen. For the curious, the discreet, or the clever, paths may exist beyond the visible rooms—paths that reward attention, wit, and subtlety.
RP Note: Chishikis eyes are completely black, her vision is less than great - she can see more in color than specific detail. She does not seem to have aether also.
Disclaimer: Chi, or Woven Whispers as a whole, is not responsible for any outcomes, misfortunes, hauntings, entanglements, or otherwise inconvenient consequences resulting from the use of her services or the acquisition of cursed, hexed, or spiritually burdened objects.
Services
RP Note: Her office is enchanted. None can hear what is spoken inside.
All Prices are IC only & are suggestions, Chi is open to taking many forms of payment should one not have the gil.

Tier One: Common Threads
Low-risk services, simple requests — for the curious, the cautious, and the discreet.
🕸 Personalized Research: For questions buried too deep or truths left forgotten, Chi's reach extends beyond paper and ink. What you seek, she can find — in old records, reluctant mouths, or threads tucked in forgotten corners.
Optional Add-ons: Rush jobs, ritual-bound copies.
Method: Often delivered in scrolls spun tightly in translucent webbing, faintly scented with lavender and dust, appointments also available to discuss what is found.🕸 Confidential Consultations: Within her silk-draped office, Chi offers counsel veiled in quiet. The chamber is tightly warded against any outside ears. She listens. Advises. Connects dots unseen.
Options: Silent sessions, magically-filtered truths, object readings
Atmosphere: Sometimes, a single spider lowers itself on a strand between questions. She never acknowledges it.🕸 Secret Keeper Service: Confide your burden. In return, Chi will offer a mirrored tale: anonymized, but eerily familiar. Sometimes, these stories arrive not from her lips — but from a parchment placed before you, the ink still wet.
Warning: Once spoken, the thread begins to weave.
Tier Two: Silken Webs
Moderate-risk services, deeper reach — for those who need more than truth. They need leverage.
🕸 Evidence Collection: Subtle webs span more than alleys and walls. Chi’s quiet agents catch whispers, documents, broken patterns — and present them cleanly. Proof, without presence.
Formats: Silk-wrapped reports, mimicked handwriting, preserved memory strands
Warning: The spiders leave no sign… unless Chi wants someone to know.🕸 Surveillance: Few realize how many eyes a single web can hold. Chi’s observation methods are quiet, lingering — sometimes literal. She blends into the background, watching, listening, waiting.
Variants: Emotional monitoring, daily route logging.🕸 Alias & Identity Crafting: For those wishing to disappear, be reborn, or insert themselves where they should not be — Chi weaves identities from rumor, record, and shadow. Can either be just the papers, something deeper or both.
Includes: Forged lineage papers, planted memories, subtle gossip spun into a new truth.
Effect: Even your reflection may second-guess who you were.
Tier Three: Twilight Threads
High-risk, high-stakes services. Offered only to those she deems worthy… or desperate.
🕸 Track & Trace: With an item, a name, or a fragment of thought, Chi can find. She slips through city cracks, forest shadows, and shifting aether.
Formats: Silk-wrapped reports, mimicked handwriting, preserved memory strands
Risk: Sometimes, something follows them back.🕸 Memory Recovery (Experimental) She threads silk between the conscious and forgotten, teasing memory forward like prey from a burrow. But memory is fragile. And sometimes, not all of it is yours.
Warning: Identity damage possible. Residual hauntings… not unheard of.🕸 Alias & Identity Crafting: For those wishing to disappear, be reborn, or insert themselves where they should not be — Chi weaves identities from rumor, record, and shadow.
Includes: Forged lineage papers, planted memories, subtle gossip spun into truth.
Effect: Even your reflection may second-guess who you were.🕸 Debt Mapping & Leverage Identification: Every favor, every whisper, every promise creates a thread. Chi can trace them all — revealing who holds power over whom, and how tightly it binds.
Includes: A delicately drawn web map, threads inked in red, gold, or black depending on severity.
Use: Perfect for extortion, politics, blackmail… or protection.

Tomes

Note: All tomes are replicas of the originals, painstakingly crafted and handwritten. One would be hard pressed to tell the difference.

A Threnody of Forgotten Feasts: A leather-bound journal combining culinary and ritual practices. It records how certain flavors, scents, and timings can provoke fleeting magical effects in communal gatherings, or leave impressions on memory and mood. Some recipes are incomplete, leaving the practitioner guessing.
The Clockwork Sermons: A worn, grease-stained manuscript chronicling cultic rites that merge mechanical constructs with aetheric resonance. Pages contain schematics of small automata used to transmit moods or influence gatherings, but portions are smudged or scratched out, leaving incomplete instructions.
Bones of the Silent Choir: A brittle, bone-hued codex cataloguing vocal and harmonic rituals where sound can move or influence raw aether. Pages include notations of frequencies, tonal diagrams, and faint warnings. Some passages hint at “resonances that linger,” which can affect the reader’s own voice or presence if read aloud.
The Shard of Broken Horizons: A weathered journal documenting rare skyborne phenomena—lightning that sings faintly, clouds that twist unnaturally, and fleeting aerial spirits. Observations are paired with diagrams of aether currents; some illustrations seem to shift or shimmer when read under moonlight.
The Grey Rite: A Field Manual of Forbidden Alchemical Warfare: Scribed on metallic leaf and bound with alchemical resin, this manual was banned by the Alchemists’ Guild of Ul’dah for detailing methods of soul destabilization and aetheric disassembly—used briefly during the Autumn War before vanishing from public record.
The Lantern of Lost Tongues: A fragile, glowing codex of forgotten languages, symbols, and sigils. Pages include scripts that seem to “shift meaning” depending on who reads them, and notes on using sound or gesture to activate or interpret the symbols. Some passages are crossed out, leaving lingering ambiguity about their safety.
Threads of the Unseen Tapestry: A delicate purple-and-gold tome on weaving invisible patterns into textiles, paper, or hair. Instructions hint at embedding messages, memories, or magical traces into objects, leaving only faint impressions detectable by trained senses. Diagrams move subtly under observation.
Cursed Objects
All prices are IC only. No gil? No problem! Chi is more than happy to accept anything of equal value or information.
Items Market with a '🕸' are considered extremely dangerous. Stock for most items limited.
The Thorn-Bound Codex: A book bound in stiff leather wrapped with thorns. Opening it stains the reader’s fingers with crimson ink that seeps into the skin. The words within shift constantly, always recounting tragedies. Owners who read too long often find themselves with strange rose-like patterns covering their form. 🕸The Shattered Monocle of Sharlayan: A cracked eyepiece with silver trim. Wearing it lets the user glimpse things otherwise unseen—forgotten glyphs, faint shadows, hidden details—but at the cost of blurring natural sight after each use.The Widow’s Comb: An ivory comb veined with faint silver threads. Using it untangles hair effortlessly, but each stroke leaves strands blackened as though charred. Whispers say the comb feeds on vitality, passing it along to unseen watchers. Those who groom with it too often find their reflection growing stranger each night. 🕸
Infinite Satchel: A fine leather satchel, adorned with a multitude of pockets on the outside, the inside enchanted to hold a plethora of items & never become full. It is not recommended to enter the satchel, Woven Whispers is not responsible for any person(s) lost inside.
The Shadow-Knot Fan: A folding fan painted black. Fanning it cools the air, but occasionally snuffs out nearby flames, even magical ones. Long-term owners complain of “shadows that do not follow properly.”
The Threadbare Arcana: A fraying deck of cards tied together with a single black silk thread. Each card is half-faded, showing only fragments of its suit and figure. When drawn, the missing portions reveal themselves — but at a cost. Something of equal weight vanishes from the querent’s life: an object, a memory, even a friendship. Those who complete an entire reading have been known to find themselves “threadbare” too — stripped of something they cannot name. 🕸
The Marionette’s Crown: A delicate circlet of silver threads that settles lightly on the brow. When worn, the user feels “guided,” as though unseen hands are helping them speak, dance, or perform with impossible grace. The longer it stays on, however, the more those movements cease to feel like their own — and some claim the crown whispers stage directions in their sleep. 🕸
Hidden Vessels: An assembly of sealed vessels, each containing some sort of being. Warded against premature release, these jars rumour to hold creatures awaiting a worthy companion. Only by nurturing the entity within can one unlock its unique gifts and forge a bond that transcends the mortal realm. Consider carefully before opening, for once the seal is broken, there is no turning back. [One per customer.]*

Hidden Vessels Notes
Please note these are just ideas, you are free to do what you wish with the creature found inside each jar.
Jar One: A frost-glazed ceramic jar etched with delicate snowflake motifs, its lid sealed shut with layers of pale, waxy resin and tightly wound silver ribbon. The surface hums faintly in cold air.OOC Note: Upon liberation, the entity reveals itself as a translucent, ice-aligned serpent with mist curling from its breath. It is calm and slow-moving, often coiling protectively around cool surfaces, and exhibits an uncanny ability to sense tension before it happens.
Jar Two: A rectangular, red-glass vessel wrapped in gold-dyed paper charms, sealed with a heavy wax plug imprinted with a stylized flame. The jar feels faintly warm to the touch.OOC Note: Upon release, the creature manifests as a crimson salamander with ember-bright eyes. It purrs like a flame and ignites when excited — its affinity for fire is clear, and its warmth has been known to stave off nightmares or cold-heartedness alike.
Jar Three: A squat, stone jar carved with symbols of water lilies and frogs, sealed with damp green wax and reeds woven around the lid. It drips with condensation even in dry air.OOC Note: Upon release, a small, jade-colored toad hops free. Its body is slick and cool, and it seems to purify the air around it. Rain follows it occasionally, and it glows faintly during storms.
Jar Five: A sleek, obsidian jar shaped like a drop of ink, sealed with a thin band of black silk and stamped with a mirrored sigil. Peering at it too long gives the sensation of being watched.OOC Note: Upon release, the entity emerges as a cat-sized shadow with glimmering, silver-ringed eyes — no feet, no sound. It appears to possess illusionary properties, occasionally mimicking the voice of the one who freed it. It may not always remain visible.
Jar Six: A green-glazed ceramic vessel with a long neck and a pale cork sealed over with dried honeycomb. Buzzing can sometimes be faintly heard within.OOC Note: Upon liberation, a honeybee the size of a fist takes flight. Its fur is fluffy and gold-dusted, and it shows a distinct preference for floral aether. Though gentle, its sting may leave lingering magical effects on those it deems threats.
Jar Seven: A large, earthenware jug with a chipped, ceramic handle and a cork stopper wrapped in coarse, jute twine, is sealed with a thick, creamy beeswax.OOC Note: Upon liberation, the entity reveals itself to be a hedgehog, exhibiting a peculiar inclination towards protective measures.

Tomes, Scrolls, & Codexes
Yami no Sho (Book of Darkness): A charcoal-bound manuscript inked with rites of shadow and forbidden magicks outlawed by the Sekiseigumi. The deeper one reads, the more the margins writhe, whispering promises. Each page turned stains the reader’s thoughts with something not wholly their own. 🕸
Kurokage Codex (Black Shadow Codex): Dense, leather-bound, and rumored to be copied from the original clan archives. It records poisons, assassination techniques, and the precise pressure points for a hundred deaths. Every reader reports waking to phantom blades at their throat, as if the spirits of the Kurokage Clan hunt those who dare steal their secrets.
Fushichou Scrolls (Phoenix Scrolls): Fragments of brittle script said to detail resurrection rites. Necromancers seek them for soul-binding magic, yet no ritual completes without a terrible imbalance: one life for another, or worse, a soul twisted half-alive, half-consumed. The scrolls’ whispers beg to be read aloud, their ink hot to the touch.
The Crimson Ledger: A thick, bloodstained account book penned by an Ul’dahn syndicate long vanished. Each entry describes a “transaction” not of coin, but of lives bargained away in occult exchange. The ink never fades, instead filling with fresh names over time — sometimes the reader’s own.

Objects
Silent Oni Mask: A black-lacquered mask that devours sound around its wearer, granting them passage unseen and unheard. Yet in the stillness, the mask murmurs in a voice that is not their own — a counsel of cruelty, growing louder with each use. 🕸
Veil of Whispered Secrets: A gauzy shroud said to blur identity, intentions, and even the trace of aether. Those who don it vanish into anonymity. But every secret it obscures is whispered back in dreams, stolen from strangers and enemies alike — until the wearer can no longer tell which thoughts are their own. 🕸
Widow’s Coil: A coil of spider silk imbued with a subtle curse. When tied to an object or person, it sows discord and hesitation—perfect for sabotaging deals or relationships.
The Ashen Crown: Forged from the soot of a hundred burned tomes, this circlet grants the wearer perfect recall of all knowledge lost to flame. Yet each fact replaces one of the wearer’s own memories, smouldering away until even their name is gone. 🕸
The Nameless Bell: A small bronze handbell without inscription. When rung, it silences all sound within a hundred paces. However, something listens in the silence — and often, it rings back.
Quiet Services
Thread Severing: Sometimes, a tie must be cut. Chi severs a thread: a memory that clings, a bond that festers, or a whisper that’s followed you too long. Subtle, discreet, and immediate — though it won't undo consequences already set in motion.
Soft Unravelling: Not all pain can be excised without tearing the self. Instead, Chi loosens the weave — trauma dulled, edges blurred, jaggedness softened into a quieter ache. Comfort comes, but so too does the risk of forgetting lessons that scars once carved.
Silk-Stilled Ink: Records of a brief confinement, a public reprimand, or a stain on your name — unravelled, then rewoven blank. Not erased, simply... hard to recall. Only works on minor offences. Nothing held in stone.
Web-Stilled Step: Chi lays an invisible filament at your heel. For but a few breaths, your passage leaves no sound — not even the brush of fabric. A perfect vanish in the moment. Yet threads fray, and once silence snaps, footsteps often echo louder than before.

Paths Beyond the Visible Rooms
Not all knowledge is shared freely, nor all whispers meant for every ear. Some threads are visible only to those who notice the spaces between moments, the pauses in conversation, the subtle glance that speaks more than words. For the discerning, the clever, or the quietly observant, small opportunities may present themselves. A word overheard here, a task performed there, a favor discreetly rendered—each step is a thread, and those who follow them carefully may find themselves invited further into the network. There is no obligation, and no promise of reward beyond what one earns through wit and discretion. Some paths are short, some wind unexpectedly, and some disappear entirely if ignored. Only those who pay attention—and who act with subtlety—will discover where the threads lead.If you find yourself drawn to what lies beyond, prove your worth, and see which doors may open in time.
